Description: Company provides merchandizing services for major international brands in shopping malls and retail outlets across the United States. Under their supervision are more than 400 contractors who each perform labor and subsequently submit one or more reports for each of the major brands at each of the retail locations. Information from those reports is then compiled into usable information and delivered to brand executives on a regular periodic basis.
How we helped: Datasilk built an online data entry and management system that allows the merchandisers to log in and submit reports from any web-enabled browser. Additionally, we identified and implemented several process improvements and additions, allowing the company staff to manage more of their business through the online interface.
- Entity Management: Company staff is able to add, edit and delete entities throughout the system. This includes management of merchandisers, brands, locations, etc.
- Scheduling: Company staff is able to establish and monitor schedules for merchandisers.
- Contractor Data Entry: Merchandisers are able to enter data for reports for each of their contracts directly into the database through any web-enabled browser.
- Invoicing: Merchandisers are able to track their reports and labor online, and submit invoices based on this information through the online interface.
- Reports: Company staff is able to create new merchandiser reports, questions and answer types through their online management system, in real time, without adversely affecting historical reporting.
- Data Collection & Reporting: Reports can be aggregated, compiled and sorted through a local application that can be updated easily through the online interface.

Description: Company provides repair and replacement for automotive theft insurance cases. They deal with victims of theft and vandalism as well as the insurance adjusters who represent their cases. Their workflow requires that they manage complex issues related to the insurance claim as well as the products and services that are used during replacement.
How we helped: Datasilk developed a system that allows the company to manage the insurance claims and associated repairs through an online interface. We reduced the time necessary to create and execute estimates while reducing the amount of necessary paperwork throughout the process.
- Repair Requests: Adjusters are able to request estimates and approve work through the interface from any web-enabled browser.
- Vehicle Data: Comprehensive vehicle data is gathered and entered into the system to ensure that the quality and accuracy of service and repair are accounted for.
- Job Estimation: Company employees are able to enter parts and labor details required for the repair(s). That information is sent to adjusters for approval prior to any work taking place.
- Communication: All communications and internal memos are directed through the database, providing a permanent record of all messages and notes exchanged between company staff and insurance adjusters. If there's ever a question about who authorized what, the database can be queried for the answer.
- Photo Management: Digital format photos can be stored and managed in the system, providing a visual history of the "before" and "after" conditions of the vehicle.
- Invoice Submission via PDF: Upon completion of a vehicle repair, company staff send out a PDF invoice directly through the online interface, using data that has been tracked, from the estimate all the way through the end of the process.
